What to gather before a HELOC conversation
Start with estimates. Use a lender’s secure process for documents only when you are ready.
Property and existing financing
Gather a recent mortgage statement, statements for other property-secured debt, and any existing HELOC limit and drawn balance. Note property type, occupancy, title holders and your state.
Income and debts
Prepare an outline of income sources and monthly obligations. Depending on the program, a lender may request pay statements, tax returns, business records, pension or benefit letters and bank statements.
Your question and goal
Write down the requested amount, when you need it, what it is for, and any circumstances such as a recent refinance, credit issue or trust ownership.
Keep sensitive records secure
Do not put Social Security numbers, account numbers, tax returns or statement images into a general website search, email or this situation checker. Ask Shawn for the appropriate secure upload route.
